State Nickname:

Referred to as the “First State”, Delaware earned its nickname by being the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States. It’s also sometimes referred to as the “Diamond State”, due to Thomas Jefferson describing it as a “jewel” among states due to its strategic location.
